Deciding to relocate to another county can be a daunting experience with many different factors to contemplate. You may have considered the move for some time but have put it off due to the process appearing to be overwhelming.

As a qualified nurse, Leaders in Care is here to support you in your end-to-end journey – from getting your UK Nursing Registration to finding your perfect role and supporting you during the relocation.

Once you have made the decision that the UK is your destination of choice, you can begin the necessary steps to get closer to your dream – starting with the NMC Nursing Registration Process.

Here is our step-by-step guide to simplify the process and equip you with all the information you need, all in one place.

Before starting

Before starting your application, you should consider the following: how long will the process take, how much will it cost and all the documents you will need for the application.

Cost

The total cost of the NMC Registration Process is £1,170 which includes the cost of the CBT and OSCE, the two exams you need to take to receive your registration.

Don’t be too concerned about the cost as many of the clients we work with will reimburse most of these fees if you secure a job with them.

A full breakdown of costs can be found here.

Time

The length of time an application takes depends on a number of variables.

You should consider how proactive you will be at getting together your documentation and submitting them to the NMC.

However, it is also important to acknowledge the number of applications the NMC is processing at any given time.

The first phase of the application stage can take up to 14 days for the assessment and the second stage can take up to 30 days after the completion of your CBT.

It should take six weeks to reach the final stage however we always advise six to eight weeks as standard.

Prepare your evidence

Throughout the application process, you will be asked to provide evidence to show how you meet the requirements for registration.

We strongly advise preparing as much evidence as possible ahead of time so that you can quickly move through the different stages of the application process.

You will be asked to provide evidence across six key areas:

  • Identity evidence
  • Qualification evidence
  • Health evidence
  • Character evidence
  • Language evidence
  • Confirmation of personal indemnity cover

Further information can be found here.

We also advise completing the checklist on the NMC website before starting your application – you can find this here

Once you have done this and compiled the necessary documents as outlined in the checklist you are ready to begin your application.
