Commitment to achieving Net Zero – Leaders in Care are committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2040.

Additional Details relating to the Baseline Emissions calculations. | |||||||||
As part of developing our environmental and sustainability goals we have initiated an Environmental Management System (EMS) and we began recording various data during 2023. Our management system works to the Seren Environmental Standard and is based upon three pillars:
Our monitoring covers both our HQ energy use and our essential travel to carry out our work activities. For the purposes of our Carbon Reduction Plan, we have assigned the year 2023 as our baseline. Please note that the baseline does not include scope 3 emissions, but we are looking at how we may collect this in the future. We recognise that electricity consumption and travel form our greatest environmental impacts and Carbon emissions. Additionally, we are looking at indicators to relate our carbon footprint to business activity and improve our regular monitoring. We are committed to achieving Net Zero by 2040 in line with current UK Government targets and will endeavour to reduce carbon embedded consumption as much as possible before looking at any Carbon Offset. Legal Compliance A very important aspect of our work is to ensure that legal compliance with regard to environmental and sustainability obligations have been identified, checked and measured. Whilst Net Zero is important, we must remember at all times that are obligations go far beyond this area within our business. These cover waste management legislation, road vehicle emissions, water legislation, F Gas handling and maintenance of heating and cooling systems, to name but a few. To this end we have developed a legal compliance register to identify a relevant Act, describe how it applies to us and what checks we carry out to ensure compliance. |

Emissions reduction targets
In order to continue our progress towards Net Zero, we have adopted various carbon reduction targets.
We project that our carbon emissions (when compared to a business growth indicator) will decrease over the next five years by 25%.
Our carbon footprint has been completed in accordance with best industry practice using the best and latest data available. Our carbon footprint adheres to the Greenhouse Gas Protocol’s Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard.
Progress against these targets can be seen in the graph below:
Carbon Reduction Projects
Completed Carbon Reduction Initiatives
The following measures and projects have been completed or implemented since the 2023 baseline.
- Switch off policies.
- Monitoring of energy and transport has started.
- Targets within our Environmental Management System
- Increased use of Video Conferencing reducing the need for business travel
- Regular vehicle servicing
- Instant boiled water to reduce consumption
- Green Office policies
- Increased use of public transport
The carbon emission reduction achieved by these measures have already yielded improvements and these and future measures will be in effect when performing future contracts.
In the future we hope to implement further measures, including:
- Measurement of scope 3 emissions and measures to reduce them.
- Working further with our suppliers to reduce packaging.
- Work with suppliers to reduce single use plastics.
- Increased use of video conferencing and remote meetings
- Purchase of an electric vehicle
- Purchases of green energy
- Reduction in paper consumption
- Staff environmental awareness training
- Increased lift sharing by employees.
- Increased monitoring of all utilities and transport to increase accuracy and recognise inefficiencies.
- Implement waste management analysis across our organization.
- The implementation of a certified Environmental Management System
- Further development of our work from home policies
- Improved recycling provider
- Purchase of environmentally friendly merchandise
- Work with our supply chain to improve their sustainability
- Explore opportunity for Carbon offsetting but only if verifiably sustainable.
